Devonport Motor Show receives an influx of new exhibitors

A call for the industry’s hidden gems to be taken out of the garage and put on display at the Devonport Motor Show has resulted in an influx of new exhibitors for this year’s event.

The 2015 Devonport Motor Show, one of the State’s biggest motoring exhibitions, will be held this Sunday, March 22 from 9am to 3pm on the Devonport foreshore. Run by the Rotary Club of Devonport North, it will feature vintage through to modern cars, motorbikes, and Hot Rods, along with paying special tribute to the British sports car as the feature vehicle.

“We were really keen for people who had never put their car on show before to share their hidden gems with us, but never expected the volume of new exhibitors we’ve ended up attracting’’, Devonport Motor Show committee member Mac Russell said. “We’re fortunate we’ll be able to showcase cars that have never been seen before and shine a light on some of the motor industry’s hidden gems’’. Mr. Russell said the event had already exceeded the number of entries it had at the same time last year but was still able to take entries on the day.

“Our capacity is 600 cars and we’ll reach that easily’’. Now in its ninth year, he anticipated the event would surpass last year’s 5,500-strong crowd. A big drawcard, outside of the vehicles themselves, is the family-focused entertainment on offer. It will include live entertainment, promotional girls, special demonstrations by the Tasmanian Motorcycle Trials Club, Rock Crawlers, face painting, jumping castles, colouring-in competitions, Symmons Plains V8 Super Car giveaways, food stalls and more. “The variety of vehicles on display, along with the variety of entertainment and food, really means it appeals to each family member. Plus, of course, the Devonport foreshore makes for a spectacular setting – there really is nothing else like it’’, Mr. Russell said.
